Sweet Queens

Sweet Queen is a deeply personal exploration of Black femininity, sensuality, and power—told through fruit, color, and poetry. Each of the four Queens in this series embodies a different fruit—peach, pear, strawberry, and blueberry—interpreted through the lens of the female intimate form. Surrounding them are bees, drawn in like they're circling something sweet—like sugar, like honey, like us.
The women are crowned in bold colors: Red, Blue, Green, and Pink. Each figure reflects the rich features and beauty of Black women, unapologetically present and powerful.
What ties the entire series together is a handwritten poem stretched across the background of all four paintings—a piece I wrote to honor and celebrate the essence of Black womanhood. Sweet Queen is about softness and strength, desire and dignity. It's my love letter to us.
