My Portfolio | The Sound Raised Us

Welcome to my portfolio. Here you’ll find a selection of my work. Explore my projects to learn more about what I do.

The Sound Raised Us is a visual archive honoring Black | African American music as both cultural foundation and communal medicine. This collection explores how sound—born from survival, resistance, joy, and spiritual inheritance—has shaped identity, held communities together, and carried us through generations.

Through mixed media, symbolism, and abstraction, these works move beyond portraiture to engage music as a living force. Vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs and more - rhythmic forms, and sacred geometries operate as vessels of memory, preserving the emotional and historical weight of Black sound. Each piece functions as an offering to the artists whose voices built refuge, language, and belonging where none was promised.

This collection centers Black music not as entertainment, but as infrastructure—an archive of resilience, creativity, and collective care. From jazz and soul to hip-hop and beyond, the sound becomes a place of gathering, a source of healing, and a blueprint for survival.

The Sound Raised Us asserts that Black music did more than soundtrack history—it sustained us.
